Dear women,
Following a call from a group of women from Mor Çatı and KADAV, we met at KADAV on Wednesday evening, March 5 (yesterday). At the meeting, we realised that we had still not reached some of the women who could join our action on March 8. We are trying to reach everyone we can. Could you please also let all the women you know know about it?
We call on all of you to meet at the tram stop in Taksim Square at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8. At 8 p.m., we will hold a lights-out action on Mis Sokak. Please remember to bring scarves or badges bearing the female symbol, whistles and similar items, if you have them.
We would also like to sing “Kadınlar Vardır” (Women Exist), written and composed by Filiz Kerestecioğlu, together. Here are the lyrics:
Until now, we have been expected
To stay silent, to sit still,
Always to submit,
To watch life pass us by.
Women exist, women exist,
Women are everywhere.
We were silent and we waited.
Life went on and we watched.
At last we said: enough.
We will never be silent again.
Women exist, women exist,
Women are everywhere.
See you all on March 8…
