Our Call for an Open Meeting…
This is our open call to all women’s organizations, above all the Istanbul Feminist Collective and Socialist Feminist Collective, LGBTI organizations, and revolutionary and democratic organizations…
After the actions held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Taksim / İstiklal Avenue, a smear campaign was launched against us with statements such as “Kaldıraç beat women on March 8” and “attacked LGBTI individuals.”
Throughout this process, no organization or individual making or circulating these statements has contacted us or sought our account of what happened; nor have our statements on the matter yet received a response.
We believe we agree that these unethical acts, devoid of dialogue and based on smears and gossip, have no place in revolutionary, feminist or human values.
The process unfolding on this basis is itself damaging to the revolutionary movement, the women’s movement and the entire social struggle.
Therefore, we call on all concerned forces to attend a joint meeting to bring all the facts to light.
